All in all..It had been a great 2010!!!

China Tour - Part 1

China Tour - Part 1
I really hate night flight. Checked in at 1 am plus and waited till 3.40 am to board the plane. The journey took about 3 hours plus. Not enough time to sleep. The tour started straight after we landed. Really tired and sleepy. Not very enjoyable for 1st day. And the first stop - they brought us to a crystal shop for shopping. Good for me, as i was too tired to buy anything so won't waste money - but definitely not good for the shops. :)

1st day at Yiliang, Kunming. First night at a 3-star hotel - 双禄大酒店 , not a good stay. I thought this trip was not as good as my last at Beijing. Luckily, i was soon proved wrong.

Buffet breakfast - We need to push our way through and fight with the locals to get the food. Needless to say, we can't beat them. What we can do was just wait and got our food when they were done.

Look at the oil floating. But the noodle was real tasty :)

View from hotel.

We visited Jiuxiang Scenic Area on the first day. A cluster of caves and rock formations. It was really magnificient.

My parents first trial at sedan. :) Insisted them to take it, partly for experience, and partly i think they would not have made it up those flight of stairs.

One of my tour mates, she came with her parents too. There was a pakistan girl (half chinese) in our group who came alone.

The 2nd day we went to the World famous Stone forest. More pictures can be seen in my facebook.
This rock bed was rumoured to be used by Zhang Guo Lao, one of the 8 immortals (八仙)when he 修道.

After that, we went to a TCM Centre, Bao Shu Tang. Apparently, they were famous for their burn cream. We were treated to a foot soak and leg massage. I knew it's going to be like what happened in Beijing. I would surely end up buying stuff that claimed to be "miracle"..hahaha. True enough, they started pitching. I had to say they were real good. At least this time, I din spend much. :)

Poor guy, he demostrated the miracle of their Bao Fu Ling cream by burning his hand on the hot metal chain. For his effort, we had to buy one..hahaha.

Spotted a real 马车 on 马路 (din manage to get a clear shot as I was in a moving bus). Apparently, the ppl still use horse carriages and there are sheeps and cows wandering too.

To be continue....

Received request to update my blog...din know i have some fans out there...heehee...

Really...it had been awhile since my last update and I accomplished quite a few things for the past few months. Read my earlier bitchings on things I want to do at least once in my life.

1) Mountain Climbing - Done
Went to Mount Kota Kinabalu and conquered the summit (4095.2m) on 11 Aug 2009. Was really happy for myself even though the journey was sheer torture.

2)Snorkeling & Parasailing - Done
Went water rafting and island hopping (Island Manukun & Island Sappi)after we climbed down (for my case, slided down) from Mount KK. My first try at snorkeling was not as easy as i thought. Had a hard time biting the mask. My mouth got pretty tired after a while. Parasailing was fun but it was not as exciting as it seems when you were below.

Clear blue sky, clear water and many schools of fish

3) 5km run - Done (5.8km to be exact)
Went for Yellow Ribbon Run on 6 Sept 2009. My very first run...clocking at 45 mins non-stop.... nothing fantastic but its my personal record nevetheless!!! :) .

4)Annual tour with parents - Soon
Yeah!!! Will be off to holidays in 2 days time!!! Going to China again. This time to Kunming, Yunan, Shangari-La, Dali & Lijiang. Soooo looking forward to it!!!

Hmm...not bad, not bad at all. Seems like it has been an exciting and fulfilling year for me... ...well...even though i have not achieve or even make an attempt to work towards my one and only resolution set for this year.....err hmm...sewing.

Well, at least I made some enquiries at Spotlight....too bad they are doing renovation ...

My Sunday Morning

My Sunday Morning
Spent a bomb on a pair of Montrail trekking shoes (which I probably not going to wear after the trip) and woke up earrrrly on Sunday morning to go trekking at Bukit Timah Hill is so not me. Even the taxi uncle claimed it was so far and commented me for the efforts. :)

Reach there at 8 am plus and was surprised to see quite a crowd gathering there. Thought there was a company outing or something. However, it turned out that a lot of people had better nothing to do on a Sunday morning and therefore, chose to exercise at Bukit Timah Hill.

Ying Hua’s friend was kind enough to help us with the training. (Think he also had nothing better to do on a Sunday morning...heeheehee).He brought us to the off-beat track instead of the usual “tourist route”. It was a good chance to test out my shoes. After some time into training, I was abit exhausted. Checked on the time. Barely passed 15 mins... $%^$%!

The place was nice & serene and we met a few monkeys along the way. Both Ying hua and I were quite worried that they would attack us as we heard horror stories about them snatching food. I was practically hanging on to her.

Our personal guide gave us a couple of useful tips on what to look out for during the Mount KK trip, e.g. how to avoid certain rocks & branches and if possible, avoid the stairs or use the lower end to save energy. The most important thing is to pace ourselves and walk slowly. Do not hurry and let those at the back passed. Of course, I took his advice very seriously. I went very slowly indeed. All those Ah Ma and Ah Peh went flying passed us….kids as well…个个真是健步如飞…

We came to a place known as “Hamburger Hill” (no idea how the name came about) and a long flight of staircase was waiting to welcome us. We were half dead halfway through the stairs. I was already on fours by the end of it.
Luckily, our previous training on staircases do helped abit.

Stairs, stairs and more stairs ...but stll got time to pose.

2 hours later, we finally reached submit. Tired but happy. It was a good training. Although it was probably less than a fifth of the real thing but at least we got a feel of what we would be facing in Mount KK. Our training package came with rain too. :) A good chance to test my waterproof shoes.

All in all my shoes are quite comfy and at least I did not slip during trekking (maybe becos I was going real slow..heheehee).

However, the shoes are only good for rough terrain and probably useless for normal road as I slipped on a slope when we were heading for lunch.
